Free Wills month

15 February 2021

March is the next Free Wills Month. This means that if you are aged 55 or over, you can have a simple Will written or updated for free with a solicitor that is taking part. Appointments are limited and are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Having an up-to-date Will is the best way to make sure that your wishes are followed in the event of your death. It allows you to look after your loved ones by leaving them anything that you own, such as your house, money or possessions.

At the same time, why not make sure your Expression of Wish form is up to date? This tells us who you would want to receive any benefits from the MPS that might be payable if you were to die. It’s very simple to complete. You can download a form from the Scheme website or you can ask the Scheme Administrator to send a copy to you. We've produced an animated video to explain more.

We believe that the Free Wills campaign is a good opportunity for our members. However, it is not being run by the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme, so if you are interested in taking part or have any questions, please refer directly to the Free Wills Month website,
