Important update for deferred members

20 November 2019

The Trustees of the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme have been made aware of an issue regarding recently issued deferred benefit statements.

Some statements contained personal data relating to other scheme members.

The incorrect information was because of a technical problem at the printing stage which has now been rectified.

We would like to apologise sincerely for this error and any inconvenience it has caused.

Members can be reassured that all the information held for them is correct.

We can also confirm that members’ benefits details are secure and that no one should be able to identify another member because of the printing error.

We are writing to all affected members with a formal apology and explanation.

A correct statement will be re-issued; in the meantime, please securely destroy the statement you have received.

The Scheme Trustees have made the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which deals with data privacy for individuals, aware of this incident. The ICO has stated that it will not be taking any further action at this time.
