State Pension

Your State Pension is payable by Government and your entitlement to a State Pension is based on their rules. The information in this section is included as a guide only, as the qualifying conditions are subject to change by Government. Although the Scheme Administrator will not be able to help with questions about your State Pension, we have provided contact details for The Pension Service who will be able to help.

State Pension Age (SPA) is the earliest age at which you can start receiving your State Pension and will depend on your date of birth and whether you are male or female.  

In recent years, Government has made changes to the State Pension Ages which will see the SPA rise to 65 for women between 2010 and 2018, and then to 66, 67 and 68 for both men and women.

Claiming your State Pension
Your State Pension is not normally paid automatically, unless you are receiving certain benefits before you reach SPA. You can claim your State Pension even if you are still working. You should receive a letter from the Pension Service about four months before you reach SPA telling you what to do. If you have not received a letter three months before you reach SPA, and you want to claim your State Pension, there are three ways to do this:
